The week of January 21st through 25th is teen cancer awareness week. In a show of support for a statewide cause, the DECA chapter at Kingsway is selling bandannas to raise money for the Alicia Rose Victorious Foundation.

This fundraiser is to raise awareness of the effects of teenage cancer through the story of Alicia Rose, a young woman with her whole life ahead of her stricken with a rare form of cancer. To cope with losing her hair, Alicia wore a  bandanna. However, when she wore it to school, officials inconsiderate of her situation, demanded that she remove it. In solidarity with Alicia, who died in 2002, students in the BLA academy and DECA are running this fundraiser to support the foundation in her name.

The bandannas will be on sale from January 15th to January 23rd. Students and staff  can wear their bandannas January 25th for Kingsway’s first annual Bandanna Day.
