Tuesday, February 24, the Kingsway girls and boys swim teams defeated Woodstown.  The girls swam first, defeating Woodstown girls 100 to 65, winning all but two events and yielding some courtesy points to Woodstown in the breaststroke and 400 Free Relay. The boys also defeated Woodstown, but in a much closer meet of 92-72.

Coach Shane Tubb  was pleased with the effort and win considering the lack of practice time they have had. He credits his seniors with being great examples and making the effort to train on their own and assist new members of the team.

Girls

The girls were led by seniors Abigail Miller,  Kaitlyn Silvers, Olivia Smith, and junior Lyndsey Warner; all won individual events and participated in winning relays.

Warner won the 50 Free in 26.7. Smith won the 100 Fly in 1:02.71; Miller won the 100 Free in 56. 92, and Silvers won the 100 Back in 1:09.76 and also placed 2nd in the 50 Free.  Miller was just appreciative to have a season. She said, “We are so lucky to have a season, and I really just want to enjoy swimming and competing. ”

Other seniors who contributed 2nd place finishes and helped win relays were Jenna Sprigman who placed 2nd in the 100 Free and Jenna Powell who finished 2nd in the 100 back.

Powell and Sprigman teamed with Miller and Smith to win the Medley Relay in 2:02.14.  Sprigman added another relay win in the 200 Free, teaming up with Miller, Smith, and Warner for a 1:51. 82.  Silvers and Smith were also part of the 400 Free Relay win with freshman Anna Sisca and sophomore Abigail DiLorenzo, but Kingsway did not count the points, as a courtesy, in a very lopsided win against their opponent.

Other Key placers were freshmen Anna Sisca who placed 2nd in the 200 and 500 Free and Holland Spangler who placed 2nd in both the 200 IM and 100 Breast. Sophomore Erica Springman finished  2nd in 100 Fly and 3rd in the 100 Breast. Also impressive were junior Grace Cassidy, who snagged 3rd place in the 500 Free, and freshman Sabrina Schonewise, who placed 3rd in the 200 IM.

Boys

Key wins for the boys came from Bode Camann and  Ryan Smith. Camann won the 50 Free and 100 Back and was part of two winning relays. Smith won the 500 Free and was part of the winning 400 Free Free Relay. He also took second in the 200 Free.

If  Camann was out of the water much in the off season, it did not show.  He credited his team with the win.  “It was a team effort, and I was really glad we started out the season undefeated.

In the relays, the Dragons won the  200 Medley Relay, with  Camann, Tave Chanthavong, Noah Gentile, and Jack Schell in 1:50.03 and the 400 Free Relay with sophomore Judah Weismer, Smith, Schell, and Camann in 3:50.14.

Other impressive swims came from  Tave Chanthavong who finished 2nd in the 200 IM, Gentile who finished 2nd in the 100 Fly, and Schell who finished 2nd in the 50 Free.

Weismer also scored a key 2nd in  100 Free, while newcomer and freshmen Tommy Popoff took 3rd in the 100 Fly.
