The Kingsway Regional Marching Band placed first at the Atlantic Coast Championships (ACC) on Saturday, October 27. Kingsway competed in group IV A and fought for first place out of four high schools. The competition was held at Bishop McDevitt High School, 2 hours away from Kingsway. The Marching Band’s show this year was titled the Bride of Frankenstein, and it was based on the famous book Frankenstein by Mary Shelley. The performance portrays how the bride is initially created so that Frankenstein’s monster is not lonely. Then, the bride and Frankenstein’s monster fall in love; finally, it shows how the bride destroys everything in the end. On top of getting awards, such as best percussion, best color guard, and best music, senior Ryan Hughes was the recipient of a three thousand dollar scholarship that day.
