Tim Ninan is honored at the March BOE meeting

Congratulations to Kingsway Senior and East Greenwich community member Timothy Ninan on an outstanding achievement. For the first time in known history, Kingsway has a National Merit Scholar. This prestigious scholarship is awarded to 7,500 high school seniors who qualify with the highest PSAT scores in the nation. Students who qualify for the national status must first receive a score in the top 1% of their state. They then are placed in the national program with the top 50,000. 15,000 semi-finalists are then selected out of all the applicants, but very few ever get national status.  In fact, less than  5% of all test-takers receive any commendation from the National Merit program.

Timothy commented, saying, “This award is such a honor and serves as a reflection of my past 12 years of schooling and diligent hard work. I am thankful to my family and all the teachers, mentors, advisors, and tutors who helped me achieve this academic success. Without the support of my community and schools from kindergarten to now, none of this would’ve been possible.”

When asked about advice for current and future students, Tim suggests, “If you want to succeed in anything, you can. It might take weeks, months, or years of work but anything is possible. And don’t be afraid to rely on family, friends, tutors, etc. Use all the resources you have to make your dreams come true.”
