Throughout the school year, I had the privilege of interviewing Kingsway’s Freshman, Sohomore, and Junior Class Officers! Here’s what they had to say:
Freshman Class President: Jude Palazzo
Q: What are your goals for this year?
A: One of my main goals for this year is to not finish last in the pep rally again. But on a more serious note, my important goals are to unite our great 2027 class and to create traditions that will last throughout our four years here at Kingsway. I also want to be the best leader of our class that I can be, and to have everyone’s voice heard.
Q: What are some changes you’d like to see around Kingsway?
A: Some changes I would like to see around Kingsway are to have Class Council and Student Council to work more closely together on projects, school events, and other topics. Along with this, I would like to see more freshmen get involved with sports and clubs throughout this school year.
Freshman Class Vice President: Nethiri Umashanger
Q: Why did you decide to run?
A: I’ve always been passionate about helping others, and leaving a positive impact on the world; why not start somewhere where I can help my own classmates, peers, and teachers– help my dragon community! I want each and every student to feel a part of something,a part of our dragon community. I’ve always felt compelled to refer to our little town as a village instead; we’re all here for eachother, and as I serve our community, I hope to unite us, and ensure each and everyone of my peers has a voice that will always be heard.
Q: How do you plan on contributing to the student body this year?
A: I plan on contributing to specific projects, especially the pep rallies throughout this school year, by ensuring that my fellow classmates also have a say in the events that take place, and that these events run as efficiently and effectively as possible! I hope our 2027 class makes indelible memories, developing new traditions, new ideas, and just a fresh slate as we enter as freshman, beginning the four year journey! I cannot wait to see what the future has in store for us!
Freshman Class Secretary: Patrick Civitarese
Q: What are you looking forward to this year?
A: This year, I’m looking forward to working with the freshman class and having a great time at our events and rallies.
Q: What is one thing you would like the freshman class to know?
A: One thing that the freshman class should know is that I am willing to work to make this year special and exciting for everyone.
Sophomore Class President: Phoebe O’Rourke
Q: What are your goals for this year?
A: My goal for this year is to have a great year and a very positive environment!
Q: What are some changes you’d like to see around Kingsway?
A: Some changes I’d like to see around Kingsway are the way people treat each other! I think we could all make Kingsway even greater than it is with a little bit of appreciation for everyone!
Sophomore Class Vice President: Sophia Paoletti
Q: Why did you decide to run?
A: I decided to run as Vice President of the class of 2026 because I was honored in this role as a freshman and I wanted to continue to represent my class. As the VP, I have quickly discovered my love of leadership and the class of 2026. I truly represent the BEST of the BEST students. My hope is to see the class through graduation.
Q: How do you plan on contributing to the student body this year?
A: I plan on contributing to the student body this year by making school a positive experience for everyone. Kingsway is a school of diverse individuals with one common goal–graduating as a dragon. I want every student to enjoy their high school experience. This can be achieved by spreading LOVE and encouragement to the student body. I want to encourage my class to make small gestures like smiling at each other in the hallways, saying “hello” or “have a nice day” even if it is someone you don’t know. It has to start with someone so why not me? This can make a huge difference in someone’s day.
Sophomore Class Secretary: Anna Jacobs
Q: What are you looking forward to this year?
A: What I am looking forward to this year is challenging myself in harder classes that I am taking and being more involved as class secretary to help create lasting memories for the class of 26′.
Q: What is one thing you would like the sophomore class to know?
A: One thing I would like the sophomore class to know is that being kind can go a long way, everyone is different and we all have our own personalities and interests. Nobody should have to try and fix a certain person’s standards, when we all work together and see each other for who we are, we can do amazing things and have a great time!!
Junior Class President: Keegan Borkowski
Q: What are your goals for this year?
A: This year, I’m hoping to work on junior parking, and overall make events as fun and accessible as possible for everyone in the grade.
Q: Advice for underclassmen?
A: My advice would be to get involved as much as possible, whether that be a sport or a club. Be nice to everyone, talk to everyone, and make new friends.
Junior Class Vice President: Sofia Giorgianni
Q: What are some changes you’d like to see around Kingsway?
A: Changes I would like to see around Kingsway is more students participating, especially in things like our spirit weeks and pep rallies. I also hope to unite my grade more as we will soon be seniors. Lastly, Junior parking is an issue very important to many of us in the class of 2025 so I would like to be able to find a solution to that.
Q: Why did you decide to run?
A: I decided to run because I want to be a leader who has the ability to get her classmates involved and make everyone’s Kingsway experience as enjoyable as possible, being upperclassmen now.
Junior Class Secretary: Olivia Neuman
Q: What are you looking forward to this year?
A: One thing I am excited about for this year is getting to experience the winter pep rally, as it is the first time we will be able to have a full gym for an indoor pep rally. This is something that I haven’t been able to do yet at Kingsway and I think it will be a great way to start off winter break.
Q: What is one thing you would like the junior class to know?
A: One thing I would like the junior class to know is that you shouldn’t take this year for granted because we only have one more year after this. It might be hard now, but it’s important to stick out the year and make it the best you can.
Thank you so much to all the class officers for your interviews!
