The Kingsway Cross Country season started with the recovery of missing a few key pieces, including seniors who graduated and others. Rather than letting these losses become weaknesses, the team used it as motivation. The team welcomed new head coaches and a multitude of new teammates, and leaned into the changes presented for this season with unwavering determination and resilience.
Many of the new runners were transfer students who quickly became valuable assets to the program. Their commitment and work ethic helped strengthen team chemistry and played a major role in the overall success of the season.
The season started with a batch meet at Cumberland Highschool with the girls placing 4th overall and the guys placing 5th. Consistent performances continued with the next two batch meets. At the second meet, the girls placed 2nd and the boys 7th. Finally at the third, the girls placed 3rd and the boys placed 4th. These strong results earned both the guys and girls sides spots as the Tri-County Conference Royal Division Champions.
Both boys and girls experienced extreme turning points in their seasons. The girls captured a first-place finish at the Gloucester County Championships, while the boys placed fifth at sectionals, securing their qualification for the Group IV State Championships. Both of these feats had not been done at Kingsway by the teams since 2021.
Overall, the 2025 season was a comeback for both the boys and girls cross country athletes. The amazing support from their coaches, the dedication of returning members, and the impact of new teammates allowed the team to have an incredibly successful season, hopefully building a strong foundation for years to come.
