Practice For The School Play Has Begun

Students at Kingsway Regional High School have begun working on the new fall play, based on the popular book The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton. The story follows the characters Ponyboy Curtis and Johnny Cade, played by sophomore Michael Alberta and senior Lydia Riddell, as they struggle with the many social problems that have occurred within their community. Michael Alberta claims that “People are in love with the movie and the story behind it. Some teens relate to the Outsider and will relate to the feelings behind it”.Other students cast in the show are sophomore Joe Collins as Randy, senior Emily Sheldon as Darry,  junior Meghan Johnson as Cherry, junior Erin Highland as Dallas, junior Kallasandra Poole as Paul, and junior Joey Ramirez as Two-Bit. Expressing views about the show’s  deeper meaning , Gabriella Velez said, “The message behind the show is being able to accept one another no matter how different someone thinks they may be”. Meghan Johnson said The Outsiders is a truly inspiring and beautiful story that everybody knows and loves”.The show will be performed December 6th to the 8th and is being directed by drama teacher and club adviser Andrew Young and English teacher Elizabeth Fago. Tickets are $10.
